Saint Nektarios
A "contemporary" saint, Saint Nektarios or Nektarios of Pentapolis or Nektarios of Aegina was born in 1846 in Thrace, to parents who originated from a renowned Byzantine family. He was a popular priest and pedagogue, who according to testimonies performed miracles during his life. His writings are renowned for their style and spirituality, by his contemporaries at the Academic community. He built a monastery in Aegina and contributed to the people of the island as a brother, a helper and supporter.
