Saint Panteleimon (Saint Pantaleon) was a Christian saint who lived in the 3rd century in Nicomedia.He was a physician by profession and became a Christian after being taught and baptized in the faith. After his conversion, he used his medical skills to help the poor and sick without asking for payment, healing people in the name of Christ. Because of this, he is known as an “unmercenary healer.”
He was persecuted under the Roman Empire for his Christian faith. Despite severe tortures, he remained faithful to Christ until he was martyred.
Saint Panteleimon is honored as the patron saint of doctors and the sick, and he is prayed to for healing and protection.
Saint Panteleimon is celebrated in the Orthodox Church on July 27 each year.
