Saint Theodore Tiron was a Christian martyr who lived in the early 4th century (around 300–320 AD) during the period of Roman persecutions against Christians under emperors Galerius and Maximin Daia.
According to tradition, he served as a soldier in the Roman army in Asia Minor and openly refused to participate in pagan rituals, declaring his Christian faith. Because of this, he was arrested, tortured, and executed, traditionally by burning.
He is remembered in Christian tradition as a Great Martyr and a symbol of steadfast faith and courage. He is commemorated on February 17 in the Orthodox Church.
