Triptych Icon with Vigil Lamp - Saint Spyridon

This triptych icon with vigil lamp depicts Saint Spyridon, one of the most beloved miracle-working saints of the Orthodox Church. Saint Spyridon is celebrated on December 12 and is known as a protector of families, travelers, the poor, and all those who seek help in times of hardship, illness, or financial difficulties.

In his youth, Saint Spyridon was a humble shepherd. He was married, but after the early death of his wife and later his daughter, he dedicated his life entirely to God, becoming a monk and eventually Bishop of Trimythous. Known for his simplicity, kindness, and unwavering faith, he became renowned for countless miracles performed during his lifetime and after his repose.

Saint Spyridon is also called “the Traveling Saint” because, according to Orthodox tradition, he continues to help believers throughout the world. His holy relics are preserved on the island of Corfu in Greece, where many faithful testify to miraculous healings and divine assistance received through his prayers. Tradition says that at times his relics mysteriously leave the shrine to help those in need, and when returned, his slippers appear worn and covered with dust and grass, as if he had truly traveled among the people.
