Introduction to the Holy Mistery of Confession: An Orthodox confession guide for children

Published with the blessing of His Eminence Atanasie, Romanian Orthodox Archbishop of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, this gentle Orthodox Christian guide has been specially created to help children prepare for the Holy Sacrament (Mystery) of Confession. Written in a warm, reassuring, and child-friendly style, it introduces young readers to the purpose and beauty of repentance while helping them understand God's endless love and mercy.

The book explores the importance of caring for the soul, explains how sin affects our relationship with God and others, and guides children through the practical steps of preparing for Confession. It also reassures them that they can approach their spiritual father with honesty and trust, knowing that Confession is a place of healing, forgiveness, and spiritual growth.

Inside, children will find:

• Simple explanations of the meaning and purpose of Holy Confession
• Child-friendly guidance on how to prepare for the sacrament
• Age-appropriate examples of sins to help with self-examination
• Beautiful illustrations that reinforce key spiritual lessons
• Short prayers before and after Confession
• Space to write personal reflections, prayers, and thoughts

Perfect for:

• Children preparing for their first Confession
• Orthodox families
• Sunday schools and parish catechism classes
• Godparents and grandparents seeking a meaningful spiritual gift

Whether used at home, in church, or as part of catechetical instruction, this guide encourages children to discover Confession not as something to fear, but as a joyful encounter with Christ's forgiveness, love, and healing grace.
